DVDFab’s simple interface and strong feature set makes it one of the best programs we evaluated. The only things keeping DVD Fab out of our number 1 and 2 slots is it produced a slightly inferior product and novices may find the large feature set intimidating.
DVDFab Platinum no longer includes the ability to convert to mobile devices, but for a small additional fee you can download DVDFab Platinum or DVDFab Gold with a "Mobile Option" enabling you to convert all your favorite home movies to iPod, PSP, Zune, cellphones and more.
We'd also like to remind readers that according to the Digital Millennium Copyright act of 1998 it is illegal to copy copy-protected DVDs using DVDFab or any other DVD copy program.
This software should be reserved for copying DVDs that you’ve created, like home videos or amateur films in which you personally own the copyright.
Feature Set:
DVDFab Platinum includes several options making DVD back-up easy and customizable. You can choose to simply make an exact replica of the DVD disc in the drive or choose specific sections and files of the DVD to make a customized back-up with only the information you want to keep.
You can also write data to a DVD using DVDFab Platinum.
Ease of Use:
DVDFab is very easy to use and navigate. The buttons are simple and clearly labeled. We found that because DVDFab includes so many features it might be a little intimidating to the novice, but after you take a few minutes to get used to the settings, the software is extremely user-friendly.
We found that DVDFab’s default settings will work just fine for the extremely inexperienced, but if you like to play and tinker simply double-click and your videos will appear in the lower left-hand screen. This is great for those customizing their copies.
Ease of Installation:
This product is very easy to install. No problems.
Quality of Copy:
When we made our back-ups we saw very little distortion. Our biggest complaint is we noticed some color bleeding mostly around bright letters on a dark background. Had we not been looking for problems, we wouldn't have even noticed; however, distortions may be more apparent on extremely large HD televisions.
Program Stability:
We didn't encounter any problems or errors when we used this product. It worked with with all the other software installed on our machines.
Summary:
Overall, DVDFab Platinum from Fengtae Software is a very good product. It has a very short learning curve and we were content with the product created. Once you become familiar with the program you will have no problems backing up all kinds of video on DVDs.
